ABC Spotlight: Ms. Dee
Dedria Meyers has been the heart and soul of ABC childcare for nearly 23 years. Ms. Dee started in September 1999 as a full-time cook. As she was always a go-getting and hands-on type, Ms. Dee quickly became a favorite of ABC. The children loved talking to her as she knew how to comfort them with care. She stated, "I was taking on a lot of delegating myself."
She explained that her motto has always been "keep it movin'." She said if you aren't doing something right now, something can always be done. After only two years as the cook, the ABC administration realized she was just the right person to take on the Childcare Director position.
She has directed and managed almost 100 plus staff while working at ABC and has loved every minute of being involved in these children's lives.
Ms. Dee considers ABC her family. Even her daughter Delaney has attended ABC and fallen in love with the people and the perfect space. Ms. Dee even explained how Delaney would also like to follow in her footsteps and work in childcare one day.
Ms. Dee was also a considerable part of the development of Camp Kids Country Club. She explained what a deeply fulling experience this camp was to provide children with amazing adventures and activities they will remember for the rest of their lives. They did everything from getting the play with farm animals to kayaking on the pond.
The personality and attitude of employees in childcare can be essential. Patience and a cheerful personality can make all the difference for a child. Ms. Dee makes it her mission to embody all of these things in her every day. She explained how she treats every day with the same passion and excitement as if it was still her first day of work.
